Biography :
Léo Laporte-Blairsy (1865-1923) was a French sculptor and medalist of Art Nouveau style. Originally from Toulouse, Laporte-Blairsy was a student of Alexandre Falguière and Antonin Mercié. He had been a member of the Salon of the French Artists since 1897. He received a third class medal in 1894, a second class in 1898. At the World's Fair in 1900, he won a silver medal. He was named Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1903. He was again rewarded at the Salon of 1914 with a first class medal.
Léo Laporte-Blairsy directed in 1910, Place de la Concorde in Toulouse, "Romanesque Poetry", a work realized thanks to a legacy of the merchant Octave Sage for a fountain of drinking water. He particularly liked to represent medieval subjects with symbolic or poetic value. The Augustinian Museum in Toulouse retains many of his works.
