Artist: Pablo Picasso
Colombe de la paix, Pablo Picasso, Design, Ceramic, Madoura, Unique piece
Located in Geneva, CH
PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) Colombe de la Paix, June 7th, 1954 Unique piece Oval plate in white earthenware, painted and glazed, green and blue 18 x 22 cm Signed and dated on the front : 7 juin 54 ; Stamped on the back : Madoura Plein Feu Certificate of authenticity issued by the Picasso Committee Pablo Picasso, a visionary of the 20th century, left an indelible artistic legacy through a diverse array of creations that transcend the boundaries of the traditional. In 1954, already recognized for his artistic and political commitment, Picasso created "La Colombe de la Paix," a piece in the form of an oval dish in white earthenware, beautifully adorned with a decor in shades of green and blue, creating a harmonious contrast on a white enamel background. Among his emblematic works, this piece stands out for its unique and symbolic character. Part of a series of 13 plates designed for dignitaries at the XIIIth Congress in June 1954, this unique piece allows Picasso to convey a message of peace that spans generations. The story of Picasso's Dove of Peace...

Danseurs et Joueur de Diaule (Dancers and Diaulos Player), 1956
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Danseurs et Joueur de Diaule (Dancers and Diaulos Player), A.R. 341 can be compared to several other white earthenware pieces created by Picasso in 1956. Each depicts the carefree imagery of dancers, musicians, and fauns to which the artist returns time and again. Framed under a sloping mountain, two figures dance with arms raised above their heads, hands clasped in a spontaneous gesture. Leafy trees and flowers mark...

Picasso Madoura Ceramic A.R. 496 Face Number 203
Located in Boca Raton, FL
Pablo Picasso A.R. 496 Face Number 203 1963 10” round Edition of 150 White earthenware clay, decoration in engobe and enamel under partial brushed glaze, grey patina Ramie 496 is a Madoura ceramic that one rarely sees come on the market. The photo you see here is the actual piece that you will receive. Most sellers online post using stock photos that don’t necessarily match exactly to the piece you receive. This particular piece is pristine: there are no nicks, bruises or scratches of any kind. Be careful when buying from others – the pieces sometimes have nicks or scratches. The Certificate of Authenticity comes with this piece. We have sold over 3300 pieces with all positive reviews. We are located in the USA. When you buy from a foreign seller on 1stdibs, you have to consider the problems of getting the piece through Customs. There are often delays and considerable fees to pay in order to import the item. When purchasing from us, we ship the same day and you receive it via FedEx the next day, no problems or hassles. When you purchase from an auction house, you pay a buyer’s premium of anywhere from 23% to 28% over the “hammer price”. So when you “win” an auction for $20,000, the actual price paid is more like $25,000. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price agreed to is the price paid by the buyer, no hidden fees. When you purchase from an auction house, you pay the packing and shipping fees, which are usually exorbitant. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price includes packing and shipping. When you purchase from an auction house, the sale is final. If you receive the piece and are not 100% satisfied with it, there is nothing you can do about it. You are stuck with it. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the buyer can determine if they want to keep it. If not, the buyer returns to piece to us for full refund, and we pay the shipping both ways! The prices of Picasso Madoura Ceramics have been on fire lately (no pun intended). The major auction houses – Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips – have now been regularly holding Picasso Madoura Ceramic auctions...

Paseo & Arrastro, from Service Scènes de Corrida (Set of 2), A.R.416 & A.R.423
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Created in 1959, Pablo Picasso (Málaga, 1881 – Mougins, 1973) Paseo A.R. 416 and Arrastro A.R. 423 are numbered from the edition of 50 on the reverse and stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and ‘EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse. Pablo Picasso was an avid fan of bullfighting his entire life, attending his first corridas when he was a child in Spain and gaining a renewed interest in the events when he settled in the South of France after World War II. Undoubtedly the theatrical drama and flashy machismo of the matadors appealed greatly to Picasso's sensibilities and resonated with his Spanish roots. In 1959, Picasso produced an 8-piece plate series, each featuring a different bullfighting scene suggested through lively stipple lines. Paseo A.R. 416 depicts a line of bullfighters highlighted by a streak of yellow. The strokes of blue above and below the figures contrast with the warm of the yellow, creating visual tension that anticipates the drama of the fight. Arrastro, from Service Scènes de Corrida, 1959 A.R. 423 features a victorious  bullfighter holding his curved sword, known as an estqoue, over his head. The dark atmosphere created by the deep blue, black, and touch of brown is slashed by the intense yellow down the center of the plate. This shock of bright color evokes the excitement of the bullfighter as he stands triumphant over the bull. Catalogue Raisonné & COA: Pablo Picasso Paseo...
