"Life is good to me. Being able to go to my studio five days weekly and paint for several hours, living in a supportive community, having family and friends who encourage me--all have contributed to helping me become an artist. Being fortunate to study with some of the artists I admire has kept me painting from the garden, people and my favorite things. With the support of galleries, teaching and doing demos, how could I do anything else? My goal is to try to be the best I can be by always being a student, looking for new ideas and stretching my horizons."
Upon retirement from a 33-year teaching career, Lu rented a studio in Loveland and began concentrating on her oil and watercolor painting. Learning from artists she had followed and admired throughout the years her painting became a full time career that lasted 17-years. Frederick Bosley was an Impressionist painter of the Boston School who most often depicted portraits, figures and still-lifes. The artist was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire in 1881. He studied at the Museum School in Boston from 1900-1906 with Edmund C. Tarbell (1862-1938) and Frank W. Benson (1862-1951), and then in Europe from 1906-1908. Bosley returned to Boston in 1909, obtaining a studio at the Fenway Studios from 1909-1918. He was to become a teacher in his own right, and became the Director at the Museum School from 1913-1931. His many awards include First prize in the 1920 Concord Art Academy Exhibition and a Gold Medal in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition, 1925. His work may be found in the collections of several institutions, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Farnsworth Museum, the National Academy of Design and the Concord Academy...

They resided in "Windemere", which is now the home of the La Jolla Historical Society. Eugenia Victoria Weir Martin was a painter and art instructor in Southern California. She was born in Tennessee on March 7, 1906. "Jean", as she was called, was brought to La Jolla, California as a small child by her parents, and remained in that area the rest of her life.
Her Father was a businessman in the early stages of the development of La Jolla. He operated a General Store in the early village. They resided in "Windemere", which is now the home of the La Jolla Historical Society. At the age of 10 she studied art with a Mrs. Fletcher, an artist in residence at the 1916 California Exposition in Balboa Park. She also studied at the San Diego Academy of Fine Arts.
