The lid of the box is formed by the camel's loaded pack, which is meticulously detailed with a variety of goods. This is a good and complete English handmade wood "weighted" chess set game of 32 pieces, in its original box with a sliding lid, made by John Jaques of London and dating to the mid 20th century period.
The chess pieces are made of turned and carved varnished wood. The bases of ALL pieces are weighted with metal pieces and the bases have a green felt/paper cover.
Weighted sets like this one have a much nicer "feel" when playing.
The pieces in the set are in the Staunton style.
Sizes: Kings: 70mm ( ~ 2.75 inches); Pawns: ~45mm (~1.7 inches)
The set comes complete with its original wood storage box, having a sliding lid and complete with a paper makers sticker to the lid.

A stunning Antique Silver Artist’s paint box by Harry Atkin, Date Sheffield 1892.
A Rare Miniature travelling paint box in excellent condition. The silver on both the outside and the interior is in superb condition.
Upon opening, the front cascades down to reveal two wells for water and perhaps mixing colours.
The interior is well protected thanks to the interior gilding. The lid engraved “Lettice’s Paint Box”. Lettice is a traditional, English girl’s name most commonly found in the upper classes.
The actual paints are not original but the current set of paints are a later acceptable replacement. The miniature brush was with it but not original and doubt it ever had one.

The case is constructed in a finely marked coromandel, with inset brass handles and brass guard bands to the angles. The hinged lid rises to reveal in the upper section, a drop down document holder, with a mirror to the back, the parcel gilt pieces are engraved with a Viscountess’s coronet, probably Charles, 2nd Viscount Hardinge Cornwallis (1822-1894) and inset with turquoises and comprise a suite of four cut-glass jars, a liqueur flask with a fitted cup, the pull-out rear shelf houses seven jars for ink, potions and unguents. This magnificent antique Victorian cast sterling silver vesta box has been realistically modelled in the form of a boar.
This impressive antique vesta case is embellished with details replicating the features of the boar's coat of fur and anatomical features.
The back of the boar incorporates a hallmarked hinged cover which opens to reveal the serrated panel/match striker.
The secondary hallmarked hinged panel opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this is faciliated with a thumbpiece modelled in the form of the boar's tail.
Such magnificent period examples are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
Condition
This antique Victorian vesta box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver coin purse has a tapering rounded form.
The rounded surface of this antique purse is embellished with textured details reproducing the fine definition of the purse's fabric.
The upper portion of the body is embellished with a sterling silver gilt border, replicating the formation of the rivets and fleur-de-lis design.
This impressive case/purse is fitted via two silver gilt ring loops with the original impressive sterling silver round link chain, incorporating a ring loop attachment to the apex.
The silver case secures with a push fit catch and opens to reveal the original segmented coin purse interior.

The anterior surface of the case incorporates the Scott Monument depicted in relief.
The decoration to the reverse of the case incorporates a shaped, scroll bordered cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved initals 'MVFT'.
The shaped sides of this piece are embellished with plain scrolling borders.

The surface of the sides, base and cover of this impressive antique vinaigrette are encompassed with concentric bands of tooled decoration, accented with punched circular motifs.
The underside of the antique box features an impressive chased tiered floral motif, accented with further tooled decoration.
