Regency-period Coalport Porcelain service is of the finest quality in terms of the porcelain itself and the decoration, each shape is particularly well designed with a distinctive shape. The centre of each piece has a floral design based upon Chinese Export "famille rose" with pink and yellow flower swirls. The ground with a distinctive aqua blue. The crimped rims have a wide border pattern alternating between a mazarine blue reverse flower-head design with a cracked ice gilt decoration and a diaper pattern on a yellow ground with flowerheads issuing forth. This is a good Chinese porcelain circular Platter or large plate, made for the export (Canton) market, during the middle of the 18th century, Qing-Qianlong period. The plate is well hand decorated with much detail in varying shades of cobalt blue, with a glaze of a very soft light blue shade. The plate has a central hand-painted pattern of bamboo and other flowers issuing from a rocky base with a fence, all within a geometric inner border. This is a good Mason’s ironstone large dinner plate produced at the time when Mason's was owned and controlled by George L Ashworth and Brothers after the bankruptcy of C J Mason in 1848. This large plate is decorated in a the striking chinoiserie pattern called "Flying Bird" pattern, as illustrated on Page 121 of "A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns" published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The pattern would have been transfer printed then boldly hand enameled with good detail. This is a beautiful plate in the Chinese inspired pattern number 4089, produced by the Copeland - Late Spode factory and made of earthenware pottery called Pearl-ware, in the mid 19th century, circa 1850. This plate is well potted with a recessed rim. The pattern is transfer printed under-glaze in cobalt blue, then carefully hand painted in bold coloured enamels over-glaze in Gilt Heightened, Rare Pattern Number '4089' which Depicts Oriental Flowers including Bamboo, Peonies and Prunus Blossom in a garden setting with insects. An exceptional, fine and impressive set of three antique Georgian English sterling silver dinner plates/second course dishes, an addition to our range of collectable dining silverware. These exceptional antique George II sterling silver dinner plates/second course dishes has a circular shaped form. The raised border is embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved marital coat of arms incorporating the motto 'Tria juncta in uno', three joined in one. The rim of each antique second course dish is encircled with a Fine and impressive applied gadroon decorated border accented with alternating scrolling leaf designs. The circular well of each plate is plain and unembellished. The underside of each plate retains the silversmith's center punch mark in addition to the original item numbers 9, 10 and 12 and the original scratch weight of 32 troy ounces and 4 pennyweights (32.2 troy ounces), as to be expected the measured weight has subtly diminished in keeping with age to 29.9 troy ounces. Larger second course dishes such as these are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. These pieces are a segment of a more extensive table service incorporating dishes, trays and platters; through time the service will have been divided. Antique Derby Porcelain Botanical Salmon-ground Plate, Marsh Hibiscus, by John Brewer after Curtis, The Botanical Magazine, #882, 1806, circa 1815. The Derby Porcelain plate is superbly painted with a Marsh Hibiscus botanical specimen with richly gilded borders with swans and stylized flowerheads on a rich salmon ground.y gilded borders with swans and stylized flowerheads are on a rich salmon ground. The flower is named on the reverse: "Marsh Hibiscus". Diameter: 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm) Mark: crown, crossed batons, and D mark in red, numerals 4 & 13 in yellow & green inside foot rim. John Brewer, (1764-1816) John was the elder of two brothers who both worked at Derby. Their parents were both artists and from 1762-1767 had studios in London at Rupert Street. Brewer started working at Derby in 1795. He was a talented watercolorist and had never applied his art to porcelain painting.
