A wonderful painting from one of the great artists of the day, this is an exceptional painting and of a quality rarely available. Albert Julius Olsson (1 February 1864 – 7 September 1942) was a British maritime artist and keen yachtsman. Olsson cruised with his yacht most summers, and The Studio commented: 'He knows the way from the Scillies to the Isle of Wight as most men know their way to the nearest railway station.' Born in London on February 1st 1864 the son of an English mother and a Swedish father. Without any formal training in art he left commerce to paint and travel and exhibited his first painting at the Royal Academy in 1890. He moved from London to St. Ives in Cornwall where he became a pillar of the flourishing artists colony there, and it is his seascapes painted in Cornwall that are his best known works.
