Cristina Mittermeier Biography: "Whim and humor are two of the qualities I look for in an image. I photographed this Lisu woman from one of the Tibetan minorities in China, as she took her pet goose for a walk in a street market in the southwestern corner of China. The image, made with an old single reflex Yashica camera, always makes me smile." -Cristina Mittermeier A virtuous mind and voice in conservation photography and one of the most influential female photographers in the world, Cristina Mittermeier began her career as a Marine Biologist working in her native Mexico. Pink Dancers

Pink Dancers Mexico Available sizes: 20 x 45 in / Edition of 6 32 x 73 in / Edition of 6 Archival Pigment Print printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Paper The soft haze of dusk, I waded out into the Ría Lagartos in Mexico and trained my lens on a trio of flamingos. Their long necks curved as they peered into the shallows stained pink by the setting sun, searching for the brine shrimp that gives them their bright, coral coloring. Ría Lagartos translates to Alligator River, although this incredibly rich estuary is neither a river nor does it have a single alligator. Instead, it is a sweeping, coastal wetland home to crocodiles and flocks of flamingos. Girl Manoeuvres - 01 - from the series Dunderwear
By Carmen de Vos
Located in Morongo Valley, CA
#Girl Manoeuvres - 01 from the series Dunderwear - 2007 26x20cm edition of 7 . Archival C-print based on the Polaroid , on beautiful on Fine art bright white by Hahnemuhle framed in a shadow Frame (white oiled wood) Hand signed & numbered by the artist. Carmen De Vos - Artist Statement Flying Freelance Portrayer. Purveyor of Exquisite Photographic Peculiarities. Chroniqueur and Archiver. Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the late TicKL-Magazine. The Belgian artist Carmen De Vos is a slow photographer. She registers, portrays and thinks up odd stories. She shoots Polaroids to frame these mental escapades, they get so easily out of hand. She enormously longs for what she’s afraid to loose: real human contact, the slowness of being and creating, the tangibility of materials. Almost without exception she uses old Polaroid camera’s, long time expired film and self-made filters. Her tools and methods - such as film bleaching and deliberate film obstruction - are not precise and are not even geared towards a perfect representation. They often yield results - such as colorisation, deformation, unsharpness - which she could never have predicted on forehand with any certainty, because their flaws do not allow for calculation. She’s not in control. She fights the material. She plans, stages and directs but the decayed chemistry and off-focus lenses add their magic. All by themselves. Which merrily surprises her. Or ruins her image. This battle attracts her as much as it frustrates her. She loves to create within these limitations, to try to produce the best possible image within the narrow circumstances given. Luckily, she’s a sucker for imperfections. Once upon a time she found herself guilty of home-crafted mischiefs for TicKL, her English art porn Polaroid magazine. She never really got cured from naughtiness. She can’t help but traveling back to these blessed times of free-love photography...

Confidence is not pride, 2019
By Tina West
Located in Hudson, NY
This listing is for the unframed photograph. Please inquire about the framing from the exhibition, The Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present a photographic exhibition by Tina West, featuring a special new collaboration between Robin Rice and furniture designer, activist Tucker Robbins. Jessica Kravitz of Exalted Alchemy created an aromatic experience exclusively for the exhibition. The installation was designed by sculpture Amy Pilkington. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm. This is Tina West’s seventh solo exhibition at the Robin Rice Gallery and Tucker Robbins’ first collaboration with Robin Rice. Inspired of a serendipitous meeting between Robin Rice and Tucker Robbins on a rainy day in New York City, this latest collaboration welcomes an exciting new era at The Robin Rice Gallery. Breaking from the gallery’s traditional style of display, West’s photography will be creatively integrated with Robbins’ artisan furniture. Designed and built on the edge of the forest by indigenous people using centuries-old techniques, these products are born out of Tucker Robbins’ travels to remote locations. Whether woven textile, clay pottery or wood sculpture, these sustainably made products are materials that have been salvaged and refashioned into works of exquisite craftsmanship that are truly one of a kind. Found objects are essential in the installation. Boosting from an impressive visual flow, the installation discovers intersections between the works that can be seen to echo throughout the space. As West’s “Passion Lies at the Edge of Uncertainty” presents an image composed of dark negative space leading down to a snake skin on the surface below, Robbins’ “Snaka Waka...
