An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver table lighter modelled in the form of a hunting horn; an addition to our Victorian silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian silver lighter, in sterling standard, has been realistically modelled in the form of a fox hunting horn.
The swept cylindrical body of this novelty silver straight trumpet is embellished with the original gilding to the lower portion representing the copper bell.
The bell is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'P. Saltmarshe, Esq, 1889, from Major General Ravenhill'.
The rim of the antique lighter bell is encompassed with bands of tooled decoration.
The upper portion of this antique lighter is encircled with further bands of tooled decoration and retains the original screw fit mouthpiece; once removed this allows access to the wick.
Such solid silver examples bearing the traditional hunting horn copper effect are rare.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot, in the classic pineapple style.
The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is composed of chased and embossed lozenge shaped convex panels, replicating the fruitlets/spikes of a pineapple, each ornamented with a quatrefoil-floral design.
The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive quatrefoil shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'HM'.
The upper rim is encompassed with an applied band of bead decoration.
The waisted pedestal features a circular knop to the centre encircled with further floral motifs.
The circular spreading foot is encompassed with a continuation of segmented lozenge panels, reflecting that of the body.
This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion.
Condition
This antique 1800s silver gilt goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The anterior and posterior surfaces of each handle are ornamented with bead decoration paralleling the rim; often referred to as Double Bead pattern.
Eachfork, spoon and ladle handle terminal incorporates a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a dolphin.
This 12 place setting canteen of cutlery consists of 80 pieces: Basic Service: 12 Table knives 12 Table forks 12 Table spoons 12 Dessert knives 12 Dessert forks 12 Dessert spoons 6 Teaspoons Additional Pieces:Pair of sauce ladles
The fundamental pieces of this service have been crafted by the collectable, renowned silversmith and flatware maker Francis Higgins III between 1887-1889; the pieces will have been crafted in less years but due to the hallmarking system the items are struck with the date letters 'M' and 'O'.
The service features replacement table and dessert knives*, crafted in Sheffield sterling silver by Barry M Witmond.

These exceptional antique Victorian English cast sterling silver serving spoons have been crafted in a figural form.
Each cast sterling silver handle terminal is modelled in the form of a putto covering himself strategically with a floral arrangement.
The characters surmount impressive pedestal style stems, each accented with a shield shaped vacant cartouche and interlacing fruiting vine ornamentation.
The posterior surface of each stem incorporates a ribbed texture to the waisted portion.
These exceptional Victorian silver serving spoons have plain rounded bowls accented with a rat-tail design to the heel.
These spoons were crafted by the renowned London silversmith Francis Higgins II.
Such figural spoons are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
In art and culture, a putto (plural: putti) is a chubby male child, usually nude and occasionally bearing wings.
Condition
These antique Victorian silver serving spoons are a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast decoration is all very sharp.

This fine antique Victorian sterling silver campaign*/christening set consists of a goblet, a knife, a fork and a spoon.
The goblet has a plain bell shaped form onto a cylindrical pedestal to a circular spreading foot.
The upper portion and foot of the goblet are embellished with a band of bright cut engraved elongated Greek key decoration.
The goblet retains the original gilt interior.
The knife, fork and spoon are Old English pattern, with a pip to the terminal of the fork and spoon.
The front and reverse surfaces of each handle is embellished with further bright cut engraved Greek key decoration, incorporating a vacant oval cartouche to the terminal.
