George Garrard (1760 - 1826 London) was an English animal, landscape and portrait painter who was also a modeller, engraver and printmaker.
He was born in May 1760 in London and was the son of Robert Garrard and his wife Miriam. He came from a family of artists, tracing his descent back to Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger who came from Bruges to England in 1580 and was a portrait painter to Queen Elizabeth I. Garrard studied under drawing master Joseph Simpson and later Sawrey Gilpin, becoming a student of the Royal Academy in 1778 where he first exhibited his paintings of horses and dogs...
