Hacer Mixed Media
Hacer is an American sculptor who designs origami-inspired, folded metal sculptures with a minimalist approach. Exploring psychologically complex themes, his reductive reinvention of the aesthetic evolved technically over decades. Hacer’s introduction to the traditional art form began at an early age when he was exposed to Sadako And The Thousand Paper Cranes and later, as a young adult, to Alexander Calder’s fluid experimentation with form. The resulting work is an amalgamation of innocent childhood play, experimentation with form, first hand working knowledge of Jeff Koons novel approach to materials, John McCracken’s exhaustive attention to detail and Ellsworth Kelly’s steadfast commitment to minimalism. The perfection of his technique in combination with a monumental vision has manifested in museum exhibitions and large-scale, permanent sculptural installations, including most recently, The Chase series of four large-scale sculptures along Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California.
