This work depicts a view of Donzy-le-Perthuis in south Burgundy - an area where the artist painted extensively. A restrospective of his landscapes of the region was held during the exhibition "Paysages de Bourgogne, de Corot à Laronze" at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon in 2001.
