An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Art Nouveau 4.76 carat turquoise and 15 karat yellow gold pendant; part of our diverse antique jewelry and estate jewelry collections.
This fine and impressive antique pendant has been crafted in 15k yellow gold.
The feature pierced decorated, Art Nouveau style drop is ornamented with a collet set turquoise panel to the centre, accented with overlayed scrolling and vertical pale wirework.
The lower border of the design supports two articulating chains, each incorporating an independently collet set cabochon cut turquoise to the terminal.
The feature setting suspends via a yellow gold fancy chain, composed of alternating bar and arrays of trace links.
The turquoise pendant is hallmarked with the maker's mark for Murrle Bennett & Co (MBCo)* and 15k gold mark (15CT).
This impressive antique Art Nouveau pendant is supplied with an IDGL gemstone grading report card.
* The jewelry manufacturers Ernst Murrle and J.B Bennett operated as Siegele & Bennett from 1884 advertising themselves as 'manufacturers and importers of British and Foreign jewelry'; importing pieces from Pforsheim as this was Murrle's origin. In 1896 they administered Murrle Bennet & Co until 1914 when the firm was purchased and continued trade in London under the name White Redgrove & Whyte. A finely crafted 15 carat yellow gold pendant of swirling form, set to its centre with a heart shaped amethyst of 4 carats approximately of deep purple colour, with a seed pearl encrusted crown and wings. Finished with a pear shaped periodot drop of 0.74 carats approximately.
The pendant features an integrated cable link chain with lengths of both 17 and 19 inches depending on the desired fit through two bolt ring fittings.

A classic Art Nouveau design, this 15k rose gold necklace features stunning plique-à-jour, Rose Cut diamonds, and beautiful pearls. The centerpiece of the necklace is articulated, hinged in two places so that the flower and pearl drops dangle freely. Three plique-à-jour leaves are translucent—the loveliest matte soft green that fades into subtle purple highlights, clearly done by a master. Each cell of the leaf is filled with plique, with a white metal (platinum or white gold) creating contrast in the center of the leaf. Inside are a channel of bead set Rose Cut diamonds. A flower is suspended from the leaves, with multi-tones of peach to pale yellow that glow against the gold, with a prong-set diamond as its piston. The design work loops over, turning the bail into a scrolling foliate. The 15k gold appears rosy, as it has an incredible patina that shimmers with various hues of pink, gold, and green.
“Plique-à-jour” translates from French as “letting in daylight” and is a charming technique used in jewelry throughout the 20th century. To create this effect, colored, transparent enamel is suspended between gold backless cells to allow light to illuminate the piece with vibrant colors, similar to a stained glass window.
