An exceptional, fine and impressive, set of three antique George III English sterling silver decanter / wine bottle labels; part of our wine related Georgian silverware collection.
These exceptional George III sterling silver wine labels have a rectangular shaped form.
Each bottle label is embellished with exceptional gadroon ornamentation to the rim, incorporating four scrolling leaf designs.
This decoration incorporates a central rectangular cartouche, each engraved with the desirable inscriptions: 'Madeira', 'Claret', and 'Sauterne'.
This elucidating decoration is surmounted with a contemporary engraved crest depicting out of a Ducal coronet five ostrich plumes and a demi-eagle with wings extended.

As most of Georg Jensen’s designs this wine coaster is in the Art Nouveau style with the characteristic ornamental curved lines, organic structures, decorative ornaments of flora and fauna, and the use of honest and skilfully crafted materials. The chaser makes the pattern on the bottle tray. When the chaser receives the base it is totally smooth so the first step is to draw the pattern to be chased with a pencil. This is necessary to ensure that the convex shaped squares have the exact same size and that the delicate pattern underneath the grapes is laid out correctly. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver wine bottle coaster has a plain cylindrical form with a flared rim and domed spreading base.
The lower portion of the body is encompassed with embossed concave fluted batwing decoration.
The body is fitted with two sterling silver handles, ornamented with a collar design to the centre of each handpiece.
The underside of this impressive wine bottle coaster bears the retailer's mark 'Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England'.
