Momento, USA
By Molly Hatch
Located in New York, NY
Using ceramic surfaces as her canvas Hatch extends her historically-inspired contemporary repertoire with Memento, a wall installation comprised of 35 hands painted plates. The central image of the work, a large vase of vibrantly painted flowers is derived from 17th century Dutch painting, more specifically “pronkstilleven” (Dutch for ‘ostentatious still life’). Each round surface serves as a canvas for the artist’s brush strokes; together, the plates reveal the intricate abstract floral motif of their source material. Bridging the gap decorative and fine art the glazed surfaces of earthenware plates collectively become a fragmented canvas for Hatch’s delicate, painterly re-rendering.
In the past decade, the name Molly Hatch has become synonymous with contemporary ceramics. Hatch’s ceramic installations...

Parallel, USA
By Molly Hatch
Located in New York, NY
Molly Hatch’s latest installation, Parallel, continues her process of deconstructing historic imagery through an installation of triangular shaped wall tiles that create a large scale, three-dimensional ceramic lenticular. The graphic work, with its painterly black and white pastoral scene, is further interrupted by a series of graduating lines rendered in gold luster along the left side of the installation.
In the past decade, the name Molly Hatch has become synonymous with contemporary ceramics. Hatch’s ceramic installations...

Chinese Restaurant No. 17, FI
By Teemu Salonen
Located in New York, NY
Finnish designer Teemu Salonen’s iconoclastic work is an active renunciation of the simple lines and unadorned nature pervasive in the Scandinavian design that surrounds him. Placing form over function, he sees his studio practice as both experimentation and play, where a variety of materials and techniques can be merged to create unique objects of sculptural design.
For Salonen, making things by hand is an essential part of his identity as a designer. His years of experience as a curator in visual arts, coupled with degrees in carpentry and Craft design, have developed into a singular perspective that marries elements of both classical and kitsch design. The sophisticated is skilfully laced with ostentatious elements of flourish, effortlessly rolled into one asymmetrical package.
The Chinese Restaurant...

Steel Drawing #8, USA
By Stefan Rurak
Located in New York, NY
Brooklyn based Stefan Rurak’s unique vision and process stems from a diverse range of media, ranging from things as conventional as drawing and painting to performance art. “The work is largely process oriented, he states, “Increasingly I became aware that the mediums I was drawn to, such as silkscreen printing and film photography were really a pursuit of a craft that relied on a skillset as well as a system of tools.”
Working with a variety of materials – wood, cast concrete, and steel – Rurak draws no distinction between art and design, creating both purely aesthetic and fully functional pieces. Each work conveys movement, action, or intuition.
The steel “paintings” are hand-etched as a quasi-signature. The etched drawings...

By Alex Roskin
Located in New York, NY
Alex Roskin’s Monumental bronze and rosewood dining table runs an impressive 14 feet, with the ability to seat between 12 to 14 people. The table’s base follows Roskin’s penchant for muscular forms, bowed and sinuous. The base form is first sculpted by the artist and then cast in bronze. Roskin hand-rubs the base with a dark patina giving the table contrasting areas of polished and patinated bronze. The table top is of East Indian Laurel Rosewood...

Sophie Coryndon, Harvest Moon, UK, 2019
By Sophie Coryndon
Located in New York, NY
Harvest Moon, a large carved wallhanging, draws inspiration from the unicorn tapestries in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Created in the 1500th century, the tapestries known as millefleurs (meaning a thousand flowers) were woven in many different workshops in Northern France and Flanders. They often included small animals and birds among the flowers. Coryndon’s magnificent work is adorned with hand-tooled flowers and insects that are cast and gilded before being arranged on a rich brown wood panel, giving the illusion of a floating orb. The individually crafted flowers, leaves and insects are carved to mimic the goldwork embroidery commonly found in church vestments...
