GUCCI in Wonderland series contains two parts.
First one, GUCCI in wonderland, is an inspiration that came to John Paul Fauves after doing a 10 piece collection of some Alessandro Michele art campaigns.
There was so much magic realism in the GUCCI brand and concept that transcended from being a clothing label to something more surreal. It is here when the artist decides to give a hold to his new collection for 2018 named "holy exit" and dive into this new world of colors and wonders.
The second part, Alice in Wonderland, represents the artist a world of fantasy and dreams. It seems as if the author Lewis Caroll could write like a dream.
The same concept of surrealism is what FAUVES feels about Gucci design and branding. It as if Gucci can design and create form the world of dreams, and this is what the artist wants to represent in his art GUCCI in wonderland.
ABOUT John Paul FAUVES:
John Paul Fauves (born in 1980) is a contemporary Artist from Costa Rica . His artistic journey started at a very young age after he became a student of Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso , one of the most important Costa Rican modern art tutors. John Paul spent 15 years studying and mastering his technique, and only a few years ago he finally started showcasing his work.
In his paintings he engages questions of identity as they relate to art history as well as our everyday interactions with mainstream culture and social media. Greatly inspired by modernist masters as wellas pop-artists, Fauves mixes fragments of different iconic images in vivid and colourful compositions. Of his experimental and high eclectic style, he says, “art is an expression from the soul, and the soul is somethinglimitless. This is why I am always searching for different elements to bring into the work.”

Sally K. is an Ohio-born artist of Lebanese heritage who spent her formative years in Saudi Arabia before attending high school and college in Beirut. She graduated with distinction from the Lebanese American University of Beirut, earning a BA in Fine Arts. After moving back to the United States in 2013, Sally K. and her family eventually relocated once more to Qatar in 2019. Sally's multicultural background and diverse experiences inform her artistic vision, resulting in a unique style that blends Middle Eastern and Western influences.
Sally K's work is a celebration of femininity, strength, and individuality, reflecting her own journey as a woman and artist. Ocean of Conversations, I Wonder What Speaks Beneath

At first glance, the central figure seated on the couch draws our attention. His posture suggests a moment of introspection, an invitation for viewers to peer into his internal world. The placement of the bottle of alcohol at his feet immediately introduces a layer of symbolism, hinting at the potential for inner turmoil and emotional struggles.
The artwork encapsulates the notion that some of the most significant conversations we engage in are not the ones with others but the dialogues we have with ourselves. The inner voice, often unacknowledged but constantly present, plays a pivotal role in shaping our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Whether we are conscious of it or not, our self-talk influences our perception of the world, our self-esteem, and our overall well-being.
Adetayo's portrayal deftly captures the spectrum of self-talk. On one end, the inner dialogue can be a source of positivity and empowerment, much like a guiding light illuminating our path. Just as sunlight glistens on the ocean's surface, these moments of self-assuredness infuse our lives with brilliance and hope.
On the other hand, the presence of the alcohol bottle suggests a darker side to self-talk. Just as the ocean's depths can conceal hidden currents, negative self-talk can be equally concealed, festering below the surface. The artwork serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us that unchecked negativity can erode our self-confidence and well-being. This juxtaposition underscores the importance of cultivating a conscious and compassionate inner dialogue.
"Ocean of Conversations, I Wonder What Speaks Beneath" stands as a mirror reflecting our own inner landscapes. It prompts us to consider the conversations we engage in with ourselves—do we uplift and motivate or do we undermine and doubt? Sally K was born in Ohio following her family’s emigration from Lebanon. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Saudi Arabia, where she stayed until she was 14. Sally attended high school and college in Beirut, where she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts with distinction from the Lebanese American University of Beirut. In 2013, Sally and her family moved back to the United States and she now paints out of her studio in California.
The focus of Sally’s portraits is contemporary women. Her style merges characteristics of abstract expressionism with realism and portrait painting to convey not just the beauty of women, but their confidence and strength as well. They are alluring, flirtatious, and demure with an inspiring femininity that Sally describes as the “sensuality, independence, and confidence you see in strong women.”
Sally’s portraits of women are intensely personal. “The women I paint are an extension of me, of what I feel, how I process my surroundings, my thoughts, my anger, my pleasure. They’re the confident strong women that I strive to be. Isabel Rock is a creator of contemporary fairy tales. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, her work is an explosion of strange occurrences while a surreal narrative takes the audience on a journey into the imagination.
In October 2023 Isabel won the Evelyn Williams Drawing Award at the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. Known as the UK’s most prestigious annual open exhibition for drawing; part of the prize is a solo show at Hastings Contemporary, scheduled for 2024.
Whilst Isabel always has a tale to tell for each of her images, you may or may not choose to go on the journey with her or you may indeed have a different story, one of your own that jumps off the page at you, that that you decide to follow.

Water;
Once upon a time there was water. It fell from the sky in clear blue droplets. It made pools and puddles on the ground. The water tasted sweet and pure, it was good to drink, to make soup, to swim in or to wash in. It made the plants and trees grow big and luscious, it was the lifeblood of everything..
Everybody loved water and no one ever questioned where it came from or that one day the rain might stop and there would be no water.
The water women went about their usual business, they made soup, they grew cabbages, they argued and laughed together. The well was always full, there was food aplenty, life thrived. It is sometimes said that ignorance is bliss, and the women did live in bliss although they did not know it. They did not know that one day the rain would stop. It was only when the rain stopped that they knew they had lived in bliss.
