Sweeping across New York's East River, a wonder in it's own time is John A. Roebling's monumental achievement, the Brooklyn Bridge, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. Life changing as it was and as it remains, the elegance and prowess of Roebling's utilitarian bridge is what is presented in artist Jim Twerell's original expressionist landscape. Gritty and minimalist, Twerell's whispy black lines lend a contemporary yet timeless quality to the piece. The abstract expressionist sky makes this original oil painting feel all the more transitional. Twerell was born and raised in NYC and attended the famed School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. The bold, carved, distressed, wooden frame in antique gold adds elegance and dignity to the painting without detracting from the trendy nature of the piece.
