About the Item

Joanne Greenbaum’s prints are an energetic profusion of overlapping techniques and colors, featuring clusters of architectural forms, irregular shapes, and doodle-like lines. Greenbaum often inserts numbers into her works, scribbled in a hurried hand and adding to the spontaneity of the artist’s exuberant brushstrokes. The untitled works from 2007 illustrate Greenbaum’s method, allowing each mark to dictate the next in dramatic gestures that reveal the constant presence of the artist’s hand. Greenbaum studied art at Bard College. She has exhibited widely in he United States and in Europe. Her work is in the collections of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, Kansas, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, the Museum Abteiberg, Monchengladbach, Germany, the Haus Konstruktiv Museum, Zurich, Switzerland, the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, as well as others.
