About the Item
Children Asleep Under A Tree is a graceful hand-colored xylograph print, born presumably as an illustration of a book for children, unidentified, written by the French author Claude Farrère. The print was made by an anonymous artist and printed on green paper.
The state of preservation is very good, except for a light yellowing of the paper on the lower margin and the missing lower right corner.
The two youngsters, a boy and a girl, wear Nordic garments, probably Dutch, and are sleeping under a big tree.
The work is very pleasant and imaginative. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for childhood.
