Francisco Zuniga

Costa Rican, 1912-1998

Francisco Zuniga was a Costa Rican expressionist artist. He is mostly known for his paintings of rural indigenous women. Though from Costa Rica, it was in Mexico City where Zuniga would immerse himself in one of the major art centers of the Americas, painting, teaching and sculpting there, from 1938 until 1970. His works are part of major museum collections around the world.
