About the Item

A large, superb and very decorative original antique French clock dating from circa 1900. It is boldly modelled in the Rococo style in finely gilded bronze. Waisted shaped case, decorated profusely with acanthus leaves and 'C' scrolls. The front is finely pieced acanthus allowing the pendulum to be seen swinging within. To the top is a large elaborate urn with a flame finial. It is of lovely quality, heavily made but with a crisp, light design and fine finish. The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with separate minute ring and finely fretted gilt brass hands. The Rococo bezel is fitted with convex glass. The French movement is of high quality and is by A. D. Mougin. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
