Large Antique French Rococo Gilt Bronze Candelabra Clock Set

About the Item

A stunning and large original antique French gilded bronze clock set. It is of the most beautiful Rococo style, waisted case decorated with bold 'C' scrolls, acanthus leaves and standing on an integral base. To the top is a Rococo urn. Candelabra have 4 elaborate acanthus arms held aloft on asymmetric urns and with conforming bases. The dial is also porcelain enamel on copper, cream with black lettering, original finely fretted gilt hands and convex glass. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The high quality French movement is by Samuel Marti and has the makers mark on the movement backplate. It is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock running, please ask and we will send you a link. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. The original glass has some light scratches. Samuel Marti mark on the movement backplate Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.     Repaired: Fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Wear consistent with age and use. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.
