Victorian Wedgwood Lobster Salad Bowl 1878

About the Item

Original Victorian Wedgwood Lobster Salad Bowl. Cream background earthenware the bowl is decorated all around with printed and hand-painted seaweeds inside and outside the bowl. The base is composed of three lobsters as feet. The rim is finished with a silver-plated band which brings a very elegant touch. The marks beneath the base of the Wedgwood company not only give us the exact date code DRG (G for 1878) but also the pattern number (C2457) and also the painter's identity which is so great to learn about more than 140 years after! This bowl reflects the Victorian enthusiasm for exploration and discovery of new flora and fauna, perfect for gourmets.
