Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Canteen of Cutlery for Eight Persons

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver straight fiddle and thread pattern flatware service for eight persons; an addition to our canteen of cutlery collection. The pieces of this exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver straight flatware service for eight persons have been crafted in the fiddle and thread pattern. The surface of each handle is embellished with a paralleling thread decorated border accented with a pip to the terminal. The anterior surface of each fork and spoon terminal is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved initial 'N'. The reverse of each solid silver fork and spoon features a rounded heel. This flatware service for eight consists of 48 pieces: Eight table knives. Eight table forks. Eight table spoons. Eight dessert knives. Eight dessert forks. Eight dessert spoons. The fundamental pieces of this serving pieces of this silver cutlery set have been crafted by the London silversmith William Eaton in 1843, apart from the table and dessert knives, which are replacements. This antique flatware service is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduce tarnishing. "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time. Condition This antique Fiddle and Thread pattern flatware service is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
