Luminator Floor Lamp designed by Pietro Chiesa in 1933 for Fontana Arte

About the Item

A lamp with such a modern personality that its date of birth 1933 is hard to believe. A long, narrow stem opens in an upward swoop to catch an upturned cone that hides the light source. Luminator was the first example on the market of an indirect emission floor lamp. Floor lamp with dimmer. Indirect light emission. Nickel-plated brass finish. Black power cable, dimmer and plug. Bulbs: 1×250W T4 Mini-Can E11 (HA).

Floor lamp designed by Pietro Chiesa in 1933 and produced by Fontana Arte. The Luminator was for its time a groundbreaking design, and considered to be the first indirect light floor lamp in design history. The lamp is completely built up in metal, consisting of a stem that widens into a cone. The color can be best described as a very light grey, with a hint of blue. The finish is not smooth, but has a relief to it. Light source: E14 Screw-in halogen or incandescent bulb. Can be used on the US electric grid after a plug change (we can do this for you!).
