Italian 1960s Chrome and Lucite Plia Folding Chair by G. Piretti for Castelli
About the Item
iconic Italian Mid-Century Modern folding chair in Lucite and chrome, designed by Giancarlo Piretti 1967 for Anonima Castelli, Italy. The Plia folding chair is a real design Classic as it won several prices and is part of the MoMA collection as well. Its fantastic folding mechanism makes possible to fold the chair very flat so it can be stored easily. Each chair with manufacturers mark on the underside.
Very nice condition with a few signs of wear due to their age.

Giancarlo Piretti
Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums, including MoMA, New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with his son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
