Handsome vintage Modern black leather 6-piece modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract. It retains its original tags. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all of the leather has been cleaned & reconditioned but there is a small poke or indention (not a hole) on one back, a couple of seats have some crazing in the leather, & the leather shows signs of age-related use in places. It was originally designed in 1973 by John Mascheroni where it won “Best New Seating” design… and after you experience its luscious leather foam filled cushions and low profile, ergonomically pleasing composition… it’s EASY to see how it won that award!!! And talk about versatility OVERLOAD!!! It is VERY modular. We have photographed it in a couple of different setups ideal for a fantastic seating situation in your living or family room, sitting area, or maybe your entertainment room. John Mascheroni was born in 1932 and has been designing furniture since he began his working career. He studied Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and he worked at his father’s furniture factory where he learned to create reproductions of European antiques. Eventually he opened his own design practice with a showroom in New York’s elite D & D Building. He had many influences over the years including Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobson, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Mies van der Rohe, & Jean-Michel Frank but stated that he was most influenced by Charles & Ray Eames & George Nelson and their awareness of the human body and the ability to design furnishings ergonomically appropriate. His famed 1966 design of the “Tubo Table” is in a collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Today he is a spirited 90 years old and has been working with Lazar Furniture...

After receiving many requests to do so, we have carefully unpicked and removed the original custom order pop art upholstery and have now recovered the set in a more neutral, high quality mohair upholstery.
A rare, beautiful and highly sculptural pure elemental design, the large dimensions of each .Corbi' seating element allow for them to be used equally as either individual lounge chairs or as a modular sofa. This particular set is a must for serious collectors, this set comes complete with the original German purchase invoice from 1972, which also confirms the additional expense of the custom order upholstery, we have carefully unpicked and kept the original upholstery fabric should the buyer wish to retain it for provenance (please see photos 14 and 15 which illustrate the set with it's original upholstery).
The sculptural 'Corbi' modular lounge chair was designed in 1969 and only remained in limited scale production for a few years up to circa 1974. Today this super elegant design is both very popular and now extremely difficult to find due to the passage of time and the limited total production numbers so a large set of elements such as this, is really a rare opportunity.

Autre élément important, la marque est connue pour certains des moyens d'expédition et de production de meubles les plus courants de l'ère moderne. En Suède, Studio Ljungs Industrier AB est la grande société mère familiale de Duxiana (en Amérique, DUX). Initialement fournisseur de literie, aujourd'hui célèbre pour ses conceptions ergonomiques, Ljungs Industrier a été fondé par l'entrepreneur (et chocolatier) Efraim Ljung en 1926. En 1950, Folke Ohlsson, qui dirigeait alors l'équipe de conception de Ljungs Industrier, s'est rendu aux États-Unis pour étudier comment il pourrait développer l'activité de DUX, qui comprenait alors une large gamme de meubles. Peu après son arrivée en Californie, M. Ohlsson a ouvert un bureau DUX, d'abord à San Francisco, puis à Burlingame. Sur la côte ouest, le marché américain d'après-guerre en plein essor était impatient d'adopter les meubles de chambre à coucher abordables et pratiques de DUX, les tables, les fauteuils et autres sièges. 1960’s Adrian Pearsall Sectional Sofa Set with Slate Inset Ends Re-upholstered

A wonderful sectional sofa by designed by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. This set features slate inset pieces at the corners. We’ve had the set re-upholstered with all new foam. The fabric is done in the same style as the original set which I’ve included in the last photo. We’ve had two extra cushions made to cover the slate pieces, so you can use the end pieces as extra seating. Please see the last photo. The 2 pieces can be configured in an opposing position or with the shorter piece on the other end as you see fit. As it’s pictured it is 144 inches at the wide end and 86 inches at the other side. The depth is 33 inches. The longer piece is 111 inches. The seat height is approximately 17.5 inches. We’ve been fortunate to have sold a few of these over the years and their versatility is great.
