French Art Deco Desk, Chair and Bookcase by Maurice Dufrene

About the Item

A very early Art Deco office suite designed by Maurice Dufrene, c1910-1920 it all is of exceptional quality produced in solid oak and use of exotic veneers such as Amboyna, Tulip wood and burr Elm. There is very delicate inlay to all the corners of the desk and also on the bookcase of a swirl with a dot of mother of pearl at the end. The mounts gallery handles and fittings are all bronze some with original gilding in place. All the back of bronze mounts were all numbered on original casting Desk – stands on 8 turned and reeded legs with gilt bronze feet tips, high quality gilt bronze trim above with sharp definition, seven drawers with hoop type handles all lockable with original keys, the center drawer has inlay motif on all three pieces, the top has a bronze edge with a gallery, four raised corners and bronze fence in between, the top is one piece hyde leather in faded green brown colour with blind gilt embossing Chair – Amboyna on oak, fluted leg with matching gilt bronze bead at the top, one piece shaped low slung arm the back has the inlay as on all three pieces, newly upholstered in thick leather Bookcase – stands on 8 turned and reeded legs with gilt bronze feet tips, high quality gilt bronze trim above with sharp definition, above it has 6 doors in the center there are two glass with wrought iron glass protector behind is adjustable shelves the door has a full length quality lock and curtain rail top and bottom we have left this so it can be matched with your interior above this is a set of 6 filing drawers this is flanked by two long doors with adjustable shelves behind The whole suite has been fully restored and hand polished and is in excellent condition throughout Age: 1910- 1920 Style: Art Deco Material: Oak, Amboyna, Tulip wood and burr Elm Origin : France Condition: Excellent Restoration; Fully Polished Dimensions: Desk : 81h x 152w x 83d cm Chair : 92h x 58w x 60d cm Bookcase : 181h x 190w x 40d cm.
