Maurice Dufrene Art Déco cabinet

About the Item

This storage unit, highly prized for its cubic geometry, opens with two doors. The opening of these is called French. The furniture rests on a base with slender feet, gilded, finished with volutes. The interior of the furniture consists of five storage units with a zipper covered with leather. Note that the leather has wear and tear. This zipper is used to put objects before taking them out. The compartments are intended to contain precious objects, papers, trinkets and curiosities. This particity is very popular with collectors. The opening of the furniture is done by three flat golden brass hinges and the closing is done with a lock point up and down to avoid the deformation of the doors. This rosewood cabinet beautifully displays its slender lines in our contemporary interiors. It has a richly decorated façade. This wonderful Art Deco furniture designed by Maurice Dufrene was made by the workshop of La Maîtrise at Galeries Lafayette created by the interested. He advocates mass production and works with all materials including fabric, glass, wood, silver, ceramics. It offers quality furniture, aesthetic for the benefit of the greatest number. He closely follows the technical developments of his time in order to integrate them into his work. This is how Japanese art did not leave indifferent this creator. The lines, curves, natural elements are aesthetic choices that fascinate him. He develops a poetic and refined look at nature. He is captivated by these timeless themes. He uses colours that are both tender and delicate. The shapes are beautiful, slender and refined.
