French Louis Philippe chest of drawers late 19th century. The wood is walnut bramble. Walnut brambles are flamed because they have many aesthetic designs. These drawings have complex, highly contrasting patterns and intricate veins on a naturally dark background of varying intensities. Thus the bramble of walnut wonderfully imitates a theater curtain.
