About the Item
French chest of drawers Louis Philippe mid 19th century. The wood is of the bramble of walnut.
Walnut brambles are flamed because they have many aesthetic designs. These drawings have complex, highly contrasting patterns and intricate veins on a naturally dark background of varying intensities. So the bramble of walnut wonderfully imitates a theater curtain.
This chest of drawers is equipped with four drawers, one of which is called "doucine". It is hidden in the upper belt of the chest of drawers. The drawers are mounted dovetail ensuring perfect strength. The drawers can be opened daily and hold many sometimes heavy objects. They slide perfectly.
The back of the dresser has solid wood panels so very resistant.
The discreet entrances do not protrude from the surface. They are called entrance « fil ». They are made of brass. They date from the creation of the chest of drawers while the locks and keys are contemporary and in working order.
The dresser is perfectly stable. It rests on low feet that respect the shape of the furniture at the front and are called "feet sabot" and two straight feet at the back.
The top of the dresser is solid walnut.
The interior of the furniture has been cleaned so that the objects are stored in a very healthy and odorless environment.
