About the Item

Abstract painting in warm, friendly acrylic colors with the name "Fin du Jour" - "End of the Day" by Michel Puchala. Professional framing with shadow gap frame (1.0cm) and white gold plating. Originally from Poland, the artist now lives in France - Gers. The artist has had many exhibitions, starting with the Salon d'automne in Paris from 1979 to 1982, where he was invited to continue. • Italian Art Informel Painting Black, Grey, Red, Blue by Danilo Picchiotti, 1987
    Located in Salzburg, AT
Fantastic large abstract informal painting with a poectic note in wonderful colors signed Danilo Picchiotti 1987. The original artist frame in red allows the artistic design to run into the frame or integrates the frame into the artwork Childhood and the French period Danilo Picchiotti was born in 1933. His childhood and youth are characterized by the restless search of an artistic expression for his own sensibility and perception, as well as his very strong sense of existence. This would eventually lead him to join an art club known as “I Pennelacci” (the Paintbrushes) in his hometown in Rome at the early age of 18. He then starts devoting himself exclusively and passionately to reading and painting. He moves to Paris in 1952. In Paris he explores the stimulating and innovativeenvironmentsrepresented by the local versions of Surrealism of the period. From that moment onwards, he allows his own existence to be overwhelmed by his art until he becomes his art’s main subject, firmly convinced that self-consciousness and stylistic research are closely linked. This immense labour will find the truest expression of his artistic and existential sensibility in Surrealism. From his early career to action painting. During the early 1970s, the artistic environment in Rome and his successful participation to several collective art exhibitions, especially with the “Pennellacci” club, leads him to his public debut and paves the way to a very important and busy period. Later on, after enormous intellectual labour, he approaches the gestural informal painting, also known as “Action Painting”. This art movement was mostly developed in the United States, and is also called Abstract Expressionism. The most celebrated artist of this movement is Jackson Pollock. In 1986 Danilo Picchiotti holds a number of exhibitions of works that are strongly influenced by this art movement (action painting). The latest works of the artist. In Europe, the French painter Jean Fautrier begins incorporating his paintings with plastic materials that burst out of the canvas, overcoming the boundary between two-dimensional images and plastic forms. This type of painting will be called “Matter Painting”; other painters will join this movement including Jean Dubuffet, Antoni Tápies and the Italian Alberto Burri. While some artists hide into the sign, others, including Picchiotti, emphasises the matter that identifies the work itself, by choosing any kind of material such as wood, fabric, glass, wall or even colour, which are arranged on the canvas, assuming their own physicality and are transformed, layer by layer, by using fire, water and other elements. Beginning from 2000, after several years of artistic inactivity due to health problems, Danilo Picchiotti, today more culturally open-minded than ever, returns to painting with determination, strength and energy giving birth to his new “GESTURAL MATTER” period. • Abstract Painting Beige-brown-orange by the Leipzig Painter W. Biedermann 1987
    Located in Salzburg, AT
Abstract painting on paper work by Wolfgang E. Biedermann, Leipzig Westgermany 1987 Small, repetitive motifs, characters, ciphers and writings, inspired by Asian calligraphers were generously painted over in abstract. Technique: Mixed media on paper Signature: Lower right by hand W. E. Biedermann 87 Short Biography: Wolfgang E. Biedermann was born in 1940 in Hannover - dece. 2008 in Leipzig Already as a high school student Wolfgang E. Biedermann's artistic talent was recognized by Ursula Mattheuer-Neustädt. She promoted him to evening studies at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) Leipzig. From 1961 Biedermann studied at the HGB in the specialist class for free graphics and painting with Gerhard Kurt Müller, completing his studies in 1967. Since 1968 Biedermann was active as a freelance artist in Leipzig. He undertook study trips to Poland, France and Indonesia, as well as to the USSR and the USA. From 1968 to 1991 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and since 1996 a member of the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig. The unique encounter with the German action artist Joseph Beuys had a great impact on Biedermann. The artistic work of Wolfgang E. Biedermann spanned from 1960 to 2008. His œuvre is characterized by the development of his own technique. In addition to drawings and sketches of the early work for study purposes he dealt over the years primarily with printing practices. He produced numerous abstract paintings and works on paper using color etching and silkscreen processes as well as multi-plate overprinting. Biedermann relied on different layering by means of various techniques of graphics and painting. He dealt extensively with overdrawing and overpainting his works. Repeating motifs are symbols, signs, ciphers and writings, which are based on Asian calligraphy. Biedermann dealt just as intensively with the content of philosophical writings by Peter Sloterdijk and with letters from the estate of Friedrich Schiller, which he transposed into the paintings. His color-intensive paintings reflect "inner landscapes". Klaus Werner coined this term as early as 1980 for the complete works of Wolfgang E. Biedermann. Since 1977 Wolfgang E. Biedermann presented his artworks at various exhibitions. On the occasion of his 50th birthday, the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg exhibited a comprehensive selection of 130 works in 1990. NordLB - Art, Hannover accompanied his further creative process for almost ten years with work locations in Berlin (Sony Center), Singapore, Zurich and Hamburg. At the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, twelve of his large-scale works were on display in the German pavilion. Parts of his œuvre have also been exhibited outside Germany in Tokyo, Paris, Damascus, Bilbao, Listovel, Mulhouse, Grenchen, Basel and Fredrikstad, among other places.
