About

This piece is from Alexander McQueen's Autumn/Winter 08-09 collection, inspired from his recent trip to India. This deep ruby red dominated the collection paired only with black, white, and gold. His inspirational muse, in his fantasy, was a girl who lived in a 600 year old tree and comes down to be swept away by a prince to become his queen. Bedecked perhaps in his famous peacock lace dress from this collection. The collection mixed Imperial British Victorian references with late Regency period silhouettes. The drape of the chiffon of this top was shown layered over skinny trousers with several other pieces and jackets on top to create his fantastical take on a period look. All this while updating it to be thoroughly modern. He took the Regency waistline and historical Grecian references and created this wondrously beautiful and wearable piece for today's woman. The chiffon is built upon a solidly constructed bodice so you'll feel secure whilst maintaining the effortless grace of air McQueen intended. Weather that be whilst you descend from your own magical tree or not.
