John Galliano 2007 "Faberge" Rare Runway "Finale" Gown Dress

About the Item

John Galliano's 2007 S/S collection made a highly visual splash in the finale featured elaborate and luxuriously draped patterned gowns. The finale gowns, fashioned of creme silk crepe, were intricately styled and pleated, utilizing interesting, unexpected and eye catching silhouettes. During this time John Galliano's personal collection as well as, Christian Dior were both very important. The matte black sequin artistic pattern on the dress was discussed in "The Work of Faberge" as Seen Through the Eyes of Jeff Koons and Roy Lichtenstein" Photo published in the recent Galliano book by Robert Farer. The gown offered is not only glamorously draped but also lavishly adorned with a scattering of large hand beaded circular black sequins; enhanced by swirls of gold beaded ribbons. The result is a bright striking highly visual hypnotic pattern. The gown features a hand draped one shoulder toga style with hand pleated hip treatment. Interior corset construction and interior lined in silk charmeuse. Bias cut which gives the silhouette a wide endless drape and look. This gown represented is the last and final finale gown of the collection. Possibly worn in a runway show. Condition: excellent Size: 8-10; Size 44; Bust 40" Waist 36" Hips 54" Length 62"
