About
Authentic, antique Louis Vuitton monogram canvas steamer trunk from the early 20th C. Woven canvas, metal trim, leather handles with four wheels at the bottom. A key is included which still works to lock the primary latch. Three canvas & wood storage inserts are included. It measures 36in L x 20in H x 20in D, making it perfect for use as home decor and interior design.
Note that over the years, the exterior canvas had been painted with a dark varnish which covered up the LV monogram. We used a mix of vinegar & water to gently remove most of the old "paint", and then applied a thin coat of Tung Oil, which has helped to better show the original LV monogram. With that said, this antique (approximately 100 yrs old) has DEFINITE signs of use/wear: numerous digs/rubs/abrasions/holes/stains/dark areas to the exterior canvas. Scratching/discoloration to latch hardware. The trunk bottom was painted black years ago & shows scratching & a patch repair (pics 7 & 14). The metal trim is dented & missing paint in some places. One of the wooden supports shows a crack; the remainder show dings, staining, darkening. Some LV-stamped nail heads are missing. Leather handles are cracked, patina'd & stained, but functional. Interior is stained with several fabric patches, likely added by an original owner over the years (pics 8 - 10). The three storage inserts are yellowed/spotted from age (pics 11-13). The interior retains the scent of tobacco (likely was used to hold cigars over the years). Note that our price reflects condition.
