It is believed to be a target used for archery, but since it does not have any holes, it is likely unused or perhaps re-covered and no longer in use. The distinctive feature of this item is the "Hoshimato" pattern, a simple design with a round black center and a white background. This design represents a traditional Japanese target and is a minimalist symbolic design. As an antique, the item has vintage newspaper clippings from the early Showa period attached to it, further enhancing its charm and historical appeal. The construction is a frame made from thin boards of cedar or cypress, bent using a technique similar to that of "magewappa" (bent wood craft).
