This lidded jar is a traditional porcelain vessel from Jingdezhen, a town long distinguished by imperial patronage. The porcelain lid has been augmented with a metal ring to add a material interest to the piece. This temple jar decorated with auspicious dragons and phoenix echoes the restrained and elegant style of ceramics of the Ming Dynasty.
