About the Item

A luminous green glaze cloaks the exterior of this small Chinese storage jar from the late 19th century, catching the eye with soft translucency and an allover crackle. The small kitchen vessel has a tapered form, potted with high shoulders, a constrained neck and smooth, rounded lip. Marks from firing imperfections add tonal variation to the glaze and years of use have imparted a matte iridescence to the rim. Hairline crack to rim.
