About the Item

A good quality Chinese blue and white porcelain vase decorated with dragons chasing flaming pearls with Ming Jiajing (1522-66) marks to the base but probably later. The vase stands on a narrow round base with a wide squat lower body and with tall slender neck and a round bowl shaped top. The body of the vase is decorated with two five claw dragons chasing flaming pearls amidst clouds set within simple linear borders and with further patterning applied to the neck and a key pattern border around the top. The vase is decorated in underglaze blue with a six character Ming Jiajing mark applied to the recessed base. Provenance: acquired in the British art market.
