Chinese Yixing Hexagonal Vase with Painted Floral & Vine Designs
About the Item
A large and impressive Chinese Yixing hexagonal red clay vase with hand painted floral and trailing vine designs dating from the first half of the 20th century. The vase stands on a hexagonal shaped foot with slightly recessed base with formal decorative borders applied in colored enamels around the base and top rims and with the sides applied with flowering stems of various form with some entwined around fruiting vines and others growing up bamboo stems. These have been applied in thick colored enamels on the natural red clay ground. The vase is not marked.
