Chinese Speckle Glazed Onion Shape Bottle Shaped Vase

About the Item

A fine quality Chinese onion shape bottle vase decorated in mottled glazes dating from the latter 19th or 20th century. The stoneware vase stands raised on a narrow round foot and has a round lower body with a tall slender neck with simple round opening. The body of the vase is hand decorated in speckled blue and mauve glazes on a blue ground with a few glaze patches and roughs in the making. Reminiscent of the robin egg glazes this is a very attractive vase with an unglazed foot rim and with brown glazes applied to the recessed base. The vase is not marked. From a small collection of similar glazed Chinese wares. In good condition.
