This Chinese blue and white Meiping vase is not only a masterful example of ceramic artistry but also a tribute to traditional craftsmanship. Meticulously hand-painted and exceptionally well-potted, the vase was fired in a traditional pine wood-fired kiln. This age-old technique has imparted the piece with an exceptional quality of glaze and underglaze blue color, enhancing its aesthetic appeal and value.
The vase features a captivating narrative of a dragon and a phoenix, each intricately rendered among scrolling foliage. The dragon, a symbol of power and good fortune, and the phoenix, a symbol of high virtue and grace, together represent a harmonious balance, often used to symbolize blissful relations.
Further adding to its elegance, the vase is adorned with a band of ruyi head borders at the shoulder and a meticulously painted border of crashing waves above the footring. These design elements not only add visual interest but also imbue the piece with symbolic depth.
An apocryphal six-character Yongzheng mark within double circles on the base lends additional authenticity and intrigue, making this vase a distinguished addition to any collection of fine Chinese ceramics.
