Japanese Arita Ware Blue and White Charger with Pink and White Chrysanthemums

About the Item

This is a beautiful Arita charger that has the most appealing color palette in salmon, blue and white. It is 13 inches wide and deep. It has a fluted rather than flat shape. The underglaze reflects lots of light that gives the charger a high-glaze appearance. There are no cracks or chips or other condition issues. This is lovely displayed in a buffet cabinet or on an open shelf. The history of Arita ware in Japanese porcelain dates back to the 16th Century when clay was discovered in the region and production began. Famed Imari porcelain originated in a nearby port--Port Imari. This piece is newer, but impressive nonetheless. Blue and white porcelain raises the design bar and rocks every setting from antique to contemporary.
