About the Item
An exquisite and rare Japanese Arita Ware large porcelain ceramic decorative plate or charger hand crafted by skilled Japanese artisans. Entirely handmade this Arita Ware plate feature rich 24 karat gold leaf throughout and is adorned with delicate pink-coral colored cherry blossoms.
Arita Ware porcelain was first produced in Japan during the 17th century, and is a general term for porcelain made around Arita Town, Western part of Saga Prefecture. Arita Ware is characterized by its hard, durable, translucent white porcelain with indigo blue, red, yellow, gold, and other gorgeous colors delicately painted on it.
This item is an Arita Ware decorative plate with gold leaf. A monumental plate depicting elegant cherry blossoms. This magnificent charger is covered with the same highest quality genuine gold leaf used in the Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto. It is made in the traditional Arita Ware kiln - Kozan Kiln - which has inherited the secret technique of applying gold leaf called Kinrande. Arita Ware Kinrande works are made through multiple processes: first, the plates are fired after the designs are hand painted, then a fine lacquer is meticulously applied while keeping the designs intact, and then gold leaf is applied by hand one by one. These processes, which always require the utmost care, are truly the work of a master. This is one of the finest masterpieces of Arita Ware porcelain.
This dignified decorative plate is an appropriate item to present to guests. It can be displayed at the entrance or in the drawing room. It is a perfect gift for wedding gifts, housewarming gifts, store openings, retirement gifts, etc.

A Massive Antique Japanese Arita Porcelain Plate by Kajiwara Kiln
Located in Atlanta, GA
On offer is a truly impressive blue and white porcelain plate of Hizen ware, from Arita in Japan, circa mid to late-19th century. The plate was made by Kajiwara Kikujiro (菊次郎, the second Kiku son) and/or Kajiwara Kikusaburo (菊三郎, the third Kiku son who died in 1883) of the Kajiware Family Kiln of in Arita. It was decorated in a superb design with blue under-glaze, clearly out of a hand of a master. In a Classic Japanese composition that was popular in the Meiji Period, the plate displays a riot of auspicious elements, arranged still in a surprisingly harmonious manner. Anchoring the center of the design is an eagle perched on the branch of a blooming cherry tree, its talons clenching the bark and its wings about to open. The motion of the its immediate taking off is palpable. The trunk and the branches of the old cherry tree provide a spacial frame for the arrangement of large peonies with foliage, bundles of chrysanthemums, Chinese bell...
