Japanese Contemporary Blue Black Platinum 36Gold Porcelain Vase by Master Artist

About the Item

Exquisite museum quality signed Japanese contemporary porcelain vase, a masterpiece by highly acclaimed award-winning third-generation porcelain artist of the Kutani region of Japan featuring a cascade of cherry blossoms rendered in pure gold and platinum gracefully hanging, set against a stunning black background decorated with elegant blue chibu patterns. To express the signature cherry blossoms, the artist grinds pure gold and platinum foils into powder form, which is then delicately applied to the vase to create raised patterns against the backdrop. This artist's is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his extraordinary work and his unique contributions to the centuries old "chibu" porcelain art. His profile is available upon request. The tiny white dots that accentuate the backdrop are referred to as “chibu” in a beloved traditional Kutani porcelain art and represent the signature style of the artist and his forbearers. First developed in the early years of the 19th century, the “chibu” technique tasks the artist with painstakingly creating patterns with minute raised pigmented drops of equal size placed at precise intervals to generate a highly textured and mesmerizing field of raised dots. The dots are most frequently done in a bluish-green hue as in the piece, but also in white and gold. This exceptional porcelain vase comes in a beautiful custom-made paulownia wood case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 12.5 in D 8 in
