Japanese Contemporary Blue Pure Gold Porcelain Vase by Master Artist, 3

About the Item

Extraordinary Japanese museum quality contemporary Kutani porcelain vase, extremely intricately hand painted with deep blue raised "chibu" dots on a soft black background with a breathtaking arabesque motif in pure gold, on an elegant auspicious exceptionaly designed double gourd body. This is a masterpiece by highly acclaimed award-winning third generation Kutani master porcelain artist who follows in his father’s footsteps in continuing to raise the traditional “chibu” technique to new levels of precision and artistic expression. First developed in the early years of the 19th century, the “chibu” technique tasks the artist with painstakingly creating patterns with minute raised pigmented drops of equal size placed at precise intervals to generate a highly textured and mesmerizing field of raised dots that are most frequently done in a bluish-green hue as in the piece, but also in white and gold. This auspicious arabesque motif is done in gold rendered by grinding pure gold leaf into a fine powder form, which is then delicately applied to create a raised pattern on this beautifully shaped porcelain body. The artist's profile is available upon request. This exceptional Kutani porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 10.5 in D 7.5 in
