Japanese Contemporary Blue Yellow Red Porcelain Vase by Master Artist, 3

About the Item

Exquisite museum-quality Japanese contemporary signed decorative porcelain vase, stunningly hand painted on an elegant square body in vivid hues of blue, yellow and red, with a unique interpretation of sea turtle. This highly acclaimed award-winning master artist has drawn on various animals featured in Buddhist scriptures and religious practice to make his lifework the re-creation of a “Buddhist menagerie.” The artist's profile is available upon request. In the artist’s breathtaking rendition, the turtles look skyward with humanlike eyes that convey an eerie sense of self-awareness. Depicted in this mesmerizing piece are auspicious sea turtles in their striking colors that are believed to bring good fortune. Corals in yellow create a beautiful contrast. The inside of this bex is decorated with a striking intricate traditional Kutani geometric pattern in the same traditional Kutani colors as the body of the box. Having started his career in the venerable tradition of old Kutani porcelain, the artist faithfully draws on at least one of the prime Kutani colors of yellow, green, red, blue and purple in each of his work. The magnificent signature shape and the unique signature interpretation of sea turtles and the artist's awe-inspiring signature colors, make this an unforgettable piece. This unique porcelain vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: W 6 in D 6 in H 3.5 in
