Japanese Contemporary Silver Red Porcelain Vase by Master Artist, 2

About the Item

Exquisite Japanese contemporary museum quality decorative porcelain vase in a stunning shape featuring high purity silver leafs tinted in four beautiful shades of red meticulously positioned to create a patchwork motif using lacquer as an adhesive and sealed to the vase in a low-temperature firing process. It is a masterpiece by third generation Japanese master artist from the historic Imari-Arita region of Japan. The vivid shades of red expressed on a beautifully designed surface creates an unpredictable and ever shifting display of light and color. The equisite shape of the vase and the artist's original pattern decorating the surface of the vase create a centerpiece that attracts the viewer to approach this magnificent piece. The artist is the descendant of an extended family of prolific porcelain and ceramic artists. The three generations have been experimenting and perfecting techniques featuring gold foil for seven decades. Inspired by centuries-old kinrande (gold enameled porcelain) styles of Imari, the artists have developed a technique known as haku-yui (braided foils) that combines high purity gold, platinum and silver foils to create a shimmering palette of light and color. Silver foil is used exclusively as a substrate for expressing a wide spectrum of vivid colors. Foils of differing material and color are applied separately and at the rate of “one shade per day” in a process reminiscent of multi-color woodblock printing, implying that the addition of each new shade exponentially increases the time and complexity of production. In this exquisite piece the artist has used siver leaf and laquer expressing various shades of red, to create a mesmerizing pattern. This striking decorative vase comes in a custom made wooden case signed by the artist. Dimensions: H 9.5 in D 5 in
