About the Item

A colorful and fine set of Japanese Canapé Plates in unused condition dating to the Mid 20th Century. The plates in ribbed fan form with three different Flower decorations and having an overlaid slot to hold the tiny plastic and metal Canapé forks. The plates fit comfortably in the hand with good weight and each plate bears an impressed Asian character on the underside. Housed in the original wood case with calligraphic ink characters in black and red chop marks. Dimensions: Each plate measures 4.45” wide by 4.5” deep by .25” high. The forks measure 4.15” long. The wood case measures 10.65” wide by 5.5” deep by 2” high. Condition: Please see detail photos. There is a minor split to underside of the box lid and slight wear to the black fork handles from contact within the box over the years mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is lovely and quintessentially Japanese.
