About the Item

Japanese antique thick lattice sliding door, ara-koshido, Edo to Meiji period circa 1870s to early 1900s. Nowadays it's getting harder & more rare to find a sliding door with thick, strong lattices like this. thickness of each vertical lumbers are 1.3 in x 1.2 in (33mm x 30mm), almost square. This warm dark color with slight reddish hue comes from another Japanese traditional paint - actually dye - technic, persimmon tannin (kakishibu) & burnt pine ink.
