Antique Chinese Ornately Carved Writing or Accent Table with Dragons & Fruits

About the Item

This antique very ornately carved hardwood writing or accent table is unsigned, but presumed to originate from China and date to approximately 1890 and done in the period Qing style. The table is composed of elm with a serpentine curved top with a banding or frieze of cherry blossoms, which is also replicated on the shallow skirt. The front, back and sides are decorated with elaborately hand-carved panels with depictions of stylized Imperial dragons. The legs are also ornately carved with dragons and have carved claw feet. The diagonal stretchers are also decorated with hand-carved leaves and berries which is also done on the medallion where the stretchers join. This antique Chinese hand-carved table is intricately detailed on all sides, as well as the top, and as such, could serve a multitude of uses.
